cost

It's free! That is, there is a free version of RealOne Player® (and that is all that you need). If you decide that you want to go all the way and get paid RealOne Player®, it costs around $10 (as of the time this was written) -- although they will also to try to get you to subscribe to a service that would bill you monthly.

Our recommendation is that you try the free RealOne Player® first, and then upgrade if you decide you want the extra features.

installation

First, we should note that you may not need to install anything -- you may already have a player that can handle our RealAudio® files (e.g., the old RealPlayer®).   To find out, just choose a talk and press “listen” to see if it works.  If it doesn't find a “plug-in” to play the file...

  1. Download RealOne Player®. Press -> here <- to go to the page that will allow you to download RealOne Player®. Although it will focus on trying to get you to buy the full version of RealOne Player®, just choose the link for "Free Player". Even on the page that brings you to you'll need to make sure you grab the free one (it was on the right third of that page as of when this was written).
  2. Install it. As part of the process of downloading the installation program, you had to choose a file name to “Save as.”  Go ahead and execute this file, choosing options based on your preferences.
  3. Go for it. You should be all set.  Just choose the talk you want to listen to, and touch “listen.”  If you have any problems, please press -> here <-.
